A Dream I Had

I wish I could share with you
the dream I had last night.

I awoke only halfway in the darkness.
Then I tried to write it all down but
was called quickly back to sleep by the One
who waits on that bridge to dream world.

Today I pray to let go of my need to remember
what I know were sacred words and images,
and to trust they are still lingering in me,
working their deep magic.

This place is a dream. Only a sleeper considers it real. Then death comes like dawn, and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief.
