I’ve Been Told Many Things

Some told me if I have no money,
making it should be my only focus.
And if I’m ever without a job,
finding one should be my top priority.

Yes, I’ve been told many things.

When I’m in the fishbowl,
it becomes my world.
Maybe I can choose
the fish I listen to,
but more or less we all
believe the same stories.

Yes, I’ve been told many things.

But my point is simple.
God did not create the Universe,
for fish to live in a bowl,
or so I might accept
there is only one truth
that can satisfy my soul.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
